    AROUND THE FARM

Spring has finally arrived! At last our new calves are enjoying the fresh spring pasture, out in the fields with their mothers & our crops are beginning to catch up in the warmer weather. Our baby triplet lambs are now out in their paddock by pets corner, no longer in need of a heat lamp. One of our beautiful saddleback sows has ‘farrowed down’, blessing us with 9 piglets. Our new chicks, born at the end of march, are now mostly fully feathered, and have now been joined by a further 80 chicks, all hatched on 26-4. Both flocks are still waiting by our children’s play area, under their heat lamps, ready to grow large enough to join our egg laying flock enjoying the spring grass. Do come along & see the new spring life outside on the farm.

    INSIDE THE SHOP

BBQ season is upon us! Despite there still being a significant chill in the air. Our home made Sausages & burgers are in great demand, as are Harry & Mick’s endless supplies of marinated chops, steaks & ribs. As always, we use only the finest cuts of our own saddleback pork and home reared & bred beef for our sausages & burgers & are handmade, on site. Provenance & confidence assured. We are now receiving regular deliveries from Simmons Bakery, which includes their delicious sesame burgers buns to compliment your BBQ burgers & meats. The English asparagus season, as with most crops at present, is a little late this year, but with our delicious Hollandaise sauce at the ready, should be in full swing this month– the season is very short– so enjoy the worlds finest asparagus while you can! So too the first English Strawberries should appear in the next few weeks, truly welcoming summer, along with fresh baby leaf salads. From our farm shop kitchen & Deli, sales of more summery lines are escalating, with our homemade saddleback pork pies & home cured hams proving ever popular. This range will be complimented this month with the introduction of homemade quiches & a small selection of prepared’ Rolls to go’, for our lunch-time customers.

    TASTING WEEKEND

This year, we shall be hosting tasting events throughout the seasons. After a fantastic response from our customers last year, & support from many of our local suppliers we shall, over the weekend of 18th & 19th May, erect our marquees adjacent to our shop & welcome you all (with free entry & parking) to join us for cookery & butchery displays, tasting tables, hosted by our various suppliers, a Hog Roast & refreshments, along with fun family time on the farm. Do come along & spend time enjoying & exploring a real, working , family farm.
