Spring is definitely in the air, as we start to reap the rewards of the warmer weather our farm continues to go from strength to strength and this month is no exception. As lambing season comes to an end we now start to see our young animals running freely in the paddocks enjoying the sunshine. The Farm Park is now open every Friday to Monday from 10.00am to 2.00pm up until the 23rd of May, then every day during half term week, with new animals taking up residence this time of year and newborns our farm changes every day. Our goslings and chicks hatched this month, although they grow very quickly and adjust to farm life very easily. With a new tractor play area our young farmers will love zooming around on those toy tractors, we also have a new under cover sandpit where they can play. Refreshments are always readily available on site from our deli counter or trailer and can be consumed in our eating area, also under cover too for those hopefully rare drizzly days.

With the Half Term holidays and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend quickly approaching we will be serving high teas on the terrace and in the garden all weekend. You can pre-book with our team to reserve your seating. Takeaways are also available if you wish to entertain at home, our entertaining boxes and high tea’s are very popular, again you can pre-order online ready for click & collect and as its British Sandwich Week 23rd to 28th May it’s a perfect time to indulge.

National BBQ WEEK: from 30th May. The butchers are kept busy preparing BBQ food this time of year with so many celebrations and being holiday time it’s the perfect excuse to let your BBQ sizzle. Our fridges are full to the brim with fantastic home-grown meats such as beef steak, lamb, pork, poultry, chicken wings, ribs or chops, and (if you don’t mind us saying) our sausages are the best, handmade by our wonderful butchers. Look out for National Brisket Day on the 28th May. Brisket is a favourite at this time of year, braised to perfection beef brisket is best cooked very slow making it very tender and succulent. Served as a spring roast with salad and new potatoes or simply in a sandwich, this tender meat is a fantastic all rounder and super thrifty, you can make so many meals with just one joint for a firm family favourite.
