After an intensive few weeks of calving, lambing and feeding it is a joy to finally see all our young cattle, lambs and baby goat ‘kids’ finally relaxing in our paddocks. All the lamb feeding sessions over the Easter period have finally paid off and we now have healthy adorable lambs grazing our fields. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended our feeding sessions this year, it was lovely to see our little farmers’ taking part with such enthusiasm. We have new babies in the Farm Park, piggy and her piglets have settled in, rooting around the paddock situated just beyond the kitchen garden which starts to transform now to give us delicious salad leaves for the farm shop. Our Farm Park is now open every weekend and also open every day 11am -3pm from 25th May to 2nd June for half term school holidays.
The farm shop has a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables including asparagus, peas, spring greens, rocket, salad onions and new potatoes, whilst we await the kitchen garden to produce its best from our resident gardener Douglas of ‘Sweet Pea Salads’. Take advantage of the English asparagus season, the season only runs until early June, steamed or grilled served with Hollandaise sauce or wrapped in pancetta and grilled it makes a fabulous early summer dish. Our butchery counter has some fantastic meat for the BBQ this summer, look out for our speciality range of BBQ boxes containing burgers, steaks, marinades and rubs, prepared by us ready for you to use. If you want a night off from cooking our range of freshly made ready meals are great for popping into the oven or try our frozen range of meals from ‘Cooks’, great for entertaining or dinner for two. If you have special dietary requirements we now stock a wide range of gluten free biscuits and cakes along with vegetarian foods including tofu and a great selection of herbs and spices.
