Applications from farm shops and markets have come in from across the UK, each application highlighted to the judges that the FARMA members believe passionately about quality and local food with maximum provenance.
The FARMA Awards are to show case the best farm retail businesses across the UK. Each winner will have shown that in their field they have real food integrity, a sustainable business, excellent customer care, and a real commitment to quality. The winner of the award will be announced on the 24th February.
Miss Catherine Smith of FOXHOLES FARM SHOP said “the team at FOXHOLES FARM SHOP work hard all year to provide high quality farm fresh food to the public with great customer care, to secure a place in the shortlist for these awards will give us all a real boost. It shows that we must be doing something right. We will have our fingers crossed and will be working extra hard to ensure we come out on top.”
Mike Blee the chair of the judging committee “the applications we had were outstanding this year, it’s a real credit to FOXHOLES FARM SHOP for getting into the shortlist. It would be wrong or me to comment on this application yet, but I will say that the judges are looking forward to having a detailed look around FOXHOLES FARM SHOP when we have our judging meeting.”
Heather Copley, judge “these awards are not easy to win. The shortlisted businesses will be subject to a mystery shopping visit to give the judges a glimpse of how the business operates; judges then head out to interview the owner and review accounts. This process results in winners, which FARMA can be proud to promote as the FARMA Champion”.
The winner of each of these awards will be put forward for the overall FARMA Retail Champion of 2015 Award.
· The FARMA Retail Champion
The FARMA Retail Champion Award has been created to allow one member to stand with their head held high having surpassed others during the past year to develop their business and demonstrate the true value of what is great about farmers that sell to the public.
This award has been sponsored by Lakeland Computers PLC.
The Winners of the award will be announced on the 24th February 2015 at the 2015 FARMA Conference.
