As another summer comes to an end on the farming calendar we prepare for the celebration of Harvest, the game season and ‘British Food Fortnight’ making this September a popular food month.

Since 2002 ‘British Food Fortnight’ has been a celebration of fantastic British food and drink and an opportunity to showcase our produce and farming ethos along with the benefits of the farming industry, a not to be missed fortnight of festive foodie fun.

Here at Foxholes Farm our cows are still grazing on the lush green grass, making our beef extra special. Our cows are fed on a grass diet throughout the summer months to give our animals a lower-stress life-style, along with lots of Hertfordshire fresh air this makes our beef much richer in taste and full of nutrients.

All our cheeky pigs are outdoor reared and free–range, which means our pigs can roam in the muddy fields and rear their young with plenty of space helping to produce the best pork, not forgetting our chickens and lambs which are all home reared helping us produce the tastiest most succulent meat.

With a wide variety of sausages available from our butchery counter we have everything from sizzling breakfast bangers to delicious joints for roasting, pre-cooked pies and quiches from our deli or if you simply want a ready meal Foxholes Farm has it all. Whether its pre-packed from our farm shop or loose from the butchery counter you can pre-order with our click & collect service helping to make shopping at Foxholes Farm even easier. www.foxholesfarm.com/order-fresh-meat-hampers/meat-order-form

As autumn approaches the game season begins, bringing us seasonal partridge, venison, duck and pheasant ready for roasting or a slow cooked stew, along with a huge range of late summer jellies and chutneys available in our farm shop you will never be stuck for cooking ideas.

Our tearoom will be serving up even more home produced goodies for your plate with sumptuous soups made with ingredients from our own kitchen garden, meat & cheese platters from our deli and delicious cakes and bakes there is something to suit everyone.

Last but not least we had fun on the farm celebrating the season of harvest, food and music with our traditional Barn Dance held here at the farm. We put on our country attire and stepped the do-si-do with Hertfordshire`s folky fiddle music and danced the night away. We teamed up with Hertfordshire musicians ‘The Brookfield Folk Band’ for an evening of fun held in our main barn (before the cows make their winter beds), feasting on a scrumptious pulled pork supper, fantastic music and great company whilst drinking local beer and wine.
