With all the signs of autumn on the horizon and with an exceptionally dry summer just gone by, it’s quite easy as farmers’ to embrace this time of year. We harvested our silage early to ensure all our cows are fed throughout the winter months, although some much needed rain wouldn’t go a miss.
Our Farm Park continues to thrive and after a heat wave in the summer holidays, we are still continuing to make our farm park more of a destination, adding little extras for our visitors every year! One of these being ‘Event Hire Space’, my family had the pleasure of celebrating our daughters wedding right here at Foxholes Farm. With a stunning marquee and fantastic views overlooking our lakes, it was the perfect backdrop for a personalised wedding or function and with easy access our ‘event space’ is available to hire from April – October 2019.
The food season has begun; we kicked off with ‘Love Lamb Week’, a celebration of British Lamb. Whether it’s lamb steaks, lamb roast or simply a slow-cook, our butchers will hand cut any size meat to suit your needs. Look out for ‘British Food Fortnight’ from the 22nd September to 7th October, a national celebration of British Food and as a British Farm shop we take pride in bringing great food to our customers attention. Autumnal fruits are new in this month; our farm shop will be full to the brim over the next few weeks with delights such as apples, pears, apricots, plums and figs. Vegetables such as leeks, kale and squashes also start to make an appearance along with a selection of slow cook meats as we slowly enter the ‘British Game Season’.
Our Butchery classes are back! Learn the tricks of the trade on how to work from nose to tail with pork, our butchers will demonstrate and talk you through how to make the most of this versatile animal. Gain knowledge and skills such as boning, splitting, tying and curing. Class dates: September 20th, October 18th and November 15th. And last but not least, our farm could not continue and thrive without the loyalty and kindness of all our customers.
