As we put the celebrations of Harvest behind us and with the days a little cooler, we look forward to this time of year here at Foxholes Farm. With the lighting of wood burners and the smell of bonfires in the air the atmosphere is cosy as we brace ourselves ready for winter.

The cows are looking forward to their dry sheltered beds having been worn out from all the fresh air and summer grazing on tender grass. The pigs and chickens settle down for winter looking after their young, whilst the lambs embrace the cooler days with their fluffy woollen coats.

It’s a great start to the autumn with the beginning of the wild game season and what better way to celebrate than with a warm delicious curry. Eating game is cheap and healthy and perfect for feeding the whole family. Our butchery counter will be full of these fine meats like rabbit, pheasant, duck and venison, rich in flavour and perfect for the pot and as its national curry week this month we will be also stocking some of the finest cheaper cuts of meat perfect for slow cooking. Using cheaper cuts of meat is so much more economical and especially useful for making scrumptious curry delights, stews and casseroles. To celebrate we have a curry tasting in the farm shop by Don Lear from Bharji Man products, showcasing his tasty range of quick and easy products for you to enjoy at home. Don will be serving up samples for you to try on Saturday 17th October in our lovely farm shop and our tea room will be serving delicious warm curries on the menu for the whole of October for you to enjoy at the table (see our specials board menu).

School half term is upon us so quickly and we have a field of pumpkins, so bring the family to the farm and join in the spooktactular festivities for Halloween. A chefs specials board of hot and cold spooky delights will be available in our tea room, children can colour in spooky pictures, we have some good old fashioned pumpkin bowling and if the weather is kind the parents can watch the children from our outdoor enclosed play area and relax with lunch or a cheeky glass of wine, our spooktacular fun and games are from the 26th October to the 1st November so come along and enjoy. See our events page for details.
