October is the month of warming cosy food and spooky Halloween fun.
As autumn arrives we love to see the leaves on the trees here at the farm change from vibrant green to glorious gold and red. Some of the farm animals start to prepare for their winter beds, but as the grass is so unusually lush at the moment after a wet summer, it’s only natural to let our animals graze for as long as possible.
Halloween season is finally here and with lots of activities planned for your little ones this autumn, our team are getting ready for some super scary fun. So join us for a spooky week of fun and games here on the farm. Dress up in your favourite spooky outfit and enter our Halloween fancy dress competition to win a children’s hamper of goodies. Have your face painted in a spooky theme or explore our spooky farm trail or get crafty with our spooky crafts in the farm barn. Choose a pumpkin to take home for carving, plus you can pet and feed some of our farm animals. The Farmer’s table will be open with a spooky takeaway menu and our Halloween activities will be open every day from Saturday 23rd to Sunday 31st of
October 10.00am to 2.30pm (last entry). Book Tickets..
Autumn means comfort food! Our butchers know how to create the perfect banger, our sausages are handmade fresh every day. Using traditional methods we can create new recipes using pork, seasonal venison and chicken for the perfect breakfast banger, or pair them with mash and gravy. Venison, partridge and wild duck are now available, fresh, local and delicious. Use your imagination to create the perfect slow cook curry or casserole, game meat is very nutritious and leaner than most other meats. Our butchery team will always give you advice on how to get the most out of cooking with your chosen meat.
Pumpkins, squashes, autumn berries, apples, pears, kale and leeks make an appearance this month. Although most pumpkins are used for carving, make the most of its vibrant orange flesh by using your pumpkin waste in soups, cakes, risottos and pies, you can even roast the seeds to make a healthy snack. All of our vegetables are delivered twice a week so pair up your favourites and add to your warming roast dinners, stews and autumn salads.
