With the changing of the seasons it`s no wonder we start to feel a little more relaxed. Having been blessed with a crazy half term holiday week and our farm park being open every day, our Farm Park is now closed until Spring 2018 and as we start to regenerate and begin to ease our way into Christmas. Autumn for us farmers means darker mornings and shorter evenings so we make the most of the light we do have to make sure our animals are kept in a good healthy condition.
Our butchery classes have been popular this year so we have now released our dates for 2018. These are perfect as gifts and it seems we have quite a lot of enthusiasm for learning the key skills of this amazing trade. All dates can be found via our website or just call our Farm shop on 01992 552900.
Chestnuts, parsnips, cabbages and Brussels sprouts make an appearance this month, along with partridge, pheasant, pomegranates and tangerines, whilst towards the end of the month cranberries will also appear. We sell large volumes of root vegetables at this time of year, together these vegetables are perfect cooked alongside the traditional roast dinner or made into soups and stews. Our butchery has had its first delivery of local pheasant so make the most of the game season by buying sustainable and economical meat. Don`t forget the all important banger served with mash and gravy or made into hotdogs, our farmhouse, beef & horseradish or pork & apple sausages would make a fabulous supper on bonfire night..
Our Sunday Roast is back on the menu here at Granny Smith`s Tea Room. This long awaited roast has been very popular in the past so we recommend you book first if you can to avoid disappointment. Our Tea Room will also be playing host to a free Teapig day. We have teamed up with the delicious tea company Teapigs and we are keen to promote their breakfast tea so they are donating a generous free ‘Breakfast Tea’ cuppa to all (while stocks last) on Thursday 2nd November!
If you’re an organised shopper, this month we will be gradually filling the shelves with delicious hampers & gifts for Christmas. If you’re a business our corporate hampers are available to order or if you’re sending a gift to family and friends you can always choose which goodies you would prefer in the hamper.
Our Christmas order form is now available from the farm shop or you can download a copy from our website. A warm welcome awaits you with our annual Christmas tasting on the 2nd and 3rd of December at 11.00am to 3.00pm. Turkey, beef, gammon, cooked meats, condiments and cheese will be just some of the delights on the tasting table for you to try before you buy here at Foxholes Farm, we look forward to seeing you.
