What’s New on the Farm and in the Farm Shop …

    News

Hello a warm and sunny welcome to Junes early summer newsletter. The sun for the first time did not choose to smile down upon us during our Vintage open day on the 20th May. Fortunately though neither did the rain! Despite very breezy and chilly conditions, the open day proved to be the most warmly received so far.

Our friends and families helped us along with Vintage motors, dress and play. The hog roast was a blessing along with hot teas and coffees and had sold out by mid lunch time necessitating a sausage B.B.Q equally well received.

    Around the Farm

The heavy but necessary rain followed now by beautiful (we hope continued) summer sunshine has done wonders for all our arable crops & grass, with the rapeseed showing up along with the wheat and maize & the baby claves are now out in the fields with their Mothers. We are also awaiting the birth of yes another ‘cluster’ of little piglets.

    Inside the Shop

Lots has been and is going on. Glen is settling into his new role @Foxholes, producing some wonderful, delicious delicacies—home made Pates and terrines, raised and family pies & quiches, sausage rolls, sweet and savoury tarts. The fantastic cheese selection is ever growing allowing many more soft and blue cheese into the collection. We have a lovely summer celebration selection of cheeses and a Jubilee/Olympics Red, White and Blue theme to add some fun to your parties.

The same celebratory theme follows through our shop this month, in recognition of the special summer ahead of of us all. The butchers have been working especially hard preparing inspirational meal ideas for you this party season. A fantastic range of red, white and blue party packs of sausages and burgers have been invented and prepared using ingredients such as blue stilton, white wine or red onion and chilli as well as some wonderful marinades and rubs for the summer B.B.Qs and multi pack and bumper pack offers for parties.

Don’t forget to compliment your summer celebrations with some award winning “bubbly” from the Lyme Bay Brewery in Elderflower, Strawberry and Gooseberry. We have a wonderful new supplier of rapeseed oil from Hertfordshire exceedingly scrummy far more versatile than olive oil and its local. We are now stocking a dairy free ice cream for certain food intolerances.
