Finally the Summer is here and the sun has begun to show it’s smiling face.
The arable crops are coming along nicely thanks to the immense amount of rain we have had this spring. But like us they could benefit from some sunshine now. Our grass has been cut and turned into a bumper crop of Silage for our cattle’s winter. Fodder and all being well Harvest of all our arable farm will begin in the last week of July. Our pet lambs have out grown their nursery area and are now next to the Pig paddocks. Four sows also farrowed in June increasing our Piggy population by a further 30! All of this years Calves have now been born and are enjoying the summer sunshine in the grassy paddocks with their mum’s.
Things have been no less exciting!!! Firstly Terry (whom you may recall, has left due to ill health) is now much recovered but has decided not to rejoin the team.
With the sad closure of Willows Farm shop last month, we have the great pleasure of introducing to those whom he hasn’t already introduced himself to their Butcher, Mick. He has already settled in with our other Butchers Harold and Harry and the rest of the team, it’s as if he has been here for ever, bringing with him an abundance of new ideas, a sense of humour and some fresh faces from Willows. Do not hesitate to ask any of our butchers for some inspiration, special requirements or complimentary marinades for your meats.
The chaps have been preparing some fantastic party, meal and B.B.Q ideas for the special summer of festivities ahead. Olympics & Wimbledon harrrah! In the deli, Glen too has stamped his individuality to his role of Chef & Deli Manager. His Scotch Eggs, Onion Bhaji’s, pasties, Quiches and Pates are proving to be a massive hit with all of you.
