As we prepare for lambing season our ‘lambing live’ team are getting ready to ensure all our ewes are safe and well in a relaxed environment before they lamb. The maternity wards are in place, the beds are made and the feed stores are stocked up to make sure the ewes are given the essential proteins, digestible energy and vitamins they require for healthy lambs. Our Lambing Live event kicks off from the 1st to the 25th of April.
Join us this Easter with a true farm experience for all the family. Watch our farm team as they look after 180 ewes giving birth to 103 twin lambs, 71 single lambs and around 5 sets of triplets. All our ewes that are expecting lambs are made comfortable in their maternity ward situated in our undercover barn over the Easter holidays. A fun and educational way to see how we work in a real working farm environment, whilst the lambs are being born you can also have fun ewe feeding and getting close to and feeding some of our older residents in the Farm Park. Visit our new baby pygmy goats playing in their pens and getting up to mischief in the farm park, see our newborn calves plus our new peacock and peahen chicks.
Mother’s Day on Sunday 27th March is fast approaching! Our ‘Farmer’s Table’ undercover seating area will be playing host all day by serving our very popular ‘High Tea’ with savoury or sweet options. Three tiers of gorgeous food to get your tastebuds buzzing with dainty sandwiches, fresh scones and delicious cakes. Or try our savoury option of freshly baked filled pastries, quiche, homemade scotch egg, sausage rolls and sandwiches with a side order of chutney. In season this month are purple sprouting broccoli, spring onion, spring greens and wild garlic, delicious when paired with our lamb to make exceptional dishes. Our butchery have the best cuts of grass fed lamb raised to a high welfare standard, choose from cuts such as shoulder, leg or cutlets, all great for spring roasts and slow cooking. For more economical meals try our stuffed lamb breast, ribs, neck or chump cuts. Our lamb boxes include all the essential cuts for stocking up the freezer, perfect for making family meals or great for entertaining over Easter.
Look out for ‘National Butchers Week’ 7th to 13th March, this highlights the great work of our talented butchers and focuses on the fantastic innovation that our butchers achieve. Check out our butchery counter ‘sausage tastings’ every weekend which are all handmade by our team using fresh ingredients with new flavours and recipes every week.
Our deli team will be promoting ‘British Pie Week’ 7th-13th March. No one in the world loves pies as much as the British. They are responsible for the invention of most of the pies that we know and love today. Sweet or savoury — there’s a pie for every occasion and we’re here to celebrate all week!
