With the night rainfall and glorious sunshine days, June so far has been a busy one. With the sound of tractors working in the fields our farm produces it`s very own silage and after one seasonal cut already, we make way for a second.
Our Farm shop is bursting into colour with plenty of fresh produce and so many vegetables and fruits coming into season, it`s quite a spectacular time for local growers. If you don`t grow your own then buying fresh seasonal produce from your local farm shop is the next best thing. New potatoes, radishes, spring onions, asparagus and even chicken (yes chicken) are all in season and of course if your going all out to buy strawberries, it`s worth holding out for British. Gooseberries and raspberries make an appearance towards the end of the month and we look forward to the never-ending supply of courgettes and tomatoes to see us through until the Autumn.
This month`s favourite cheeses from the deli counter are great for grilling or taking on picnics and with National Picnic Week around the corner, we certainly have a well stocked range of pork pies, cooked meats, pastries and quiches ready to go, just add a blanket and basket.
Our butchery counter has some fantastic BBQ meats and with the recent lovely BBQ weather we’ve certainly seen a surge in sales. All our meat is home–grown and free-range so if you thought barbequing was expensive our butchers are always on hand to give advice on how to cook leaner, cheaper cuts of meat for the grill.
Father’s day is around the corner and if you’re thinking of gift ideas we have plenty to choose from. For the men in your life we have a great range of John Deere model tractors, for the beer lover we have some splendid locally brewed beers including the more recent New River brewery and for the spirits man we have some great artisan whiskies and local gins.
If afternoon tea is your thing then a visit to Granny Smith`s Tearoom is the perfect treat. For just £4.95 you can enjoy a fresh scone with local jam and clotted cream all washed down with a cuppa. Or if you’re feeling more adventurous our High Tea for two is incredibly popular (gift vouchers available) with a delicious tier of dainty sandwiches filled with our own home-reared meat, fresh scones and delightful cakes all for just. £19.95.
As a gift to all our lovely loyal customers we will be giving away TRIPLE points with all loyalty cards from 19th – 30th June 2017 with any purchases from our Farm shop, Butchery, Tea Room and Farm Park. So if you haven`t signed up to our loyalty card now is the time to do so!!!
