    AROUND THE FARM

Despite the continuing unseasonably cold & wet weather, the spring season on the farm is very apparent– Calving has now finished at Foxholes, & following half term, our babies will be set out to pasture along with their mothers. Our baby triplet Lambs are growing excellently & enjoying the lush pasture, now only needing a single bottle feed per day. Our litter of 9 piglets born in April are now running riot between the paddocks, & are soon to be joined by a further 4 litters due this month! Our first hatched chicks from Easter, are now amongst our main flock of egg laying hens, whilst our young flock, still not a month old, are still under heat lamps adjacent to our Farm Shop, waiting for some warm sunshine. Arable farming too s full steam ahead, with the O.S.R (oilseed rape) crops now in full flower, with dazzling yellow fields of blooms. Our silage grass too, should romp away this month, to be harvested toward June end & placed into silage clamps for winter cattle fodder.

    INSIDE THE SHOP

Comfort seems to be the theme whilst the chilly weather continues. Our local farmhouse cakes & biscuits range is ever increasing, as are our homemade small, medium and large pork pies, sausage rolls & meat and vegetarian pasties, especially appreciated hot from the oven! Our lovely & local Duchess Rapeseed oil continues to outsell all expectation, with customers singing it praises from salad dressings to high heat frying– much more versatile than olive oil. Do try some you’ll be converted. We have kept Duchess Oil on special offer, 2 x 500ml for £8.00 or £4.95 each.

    TASTING WEEKEND

A big thank you to who braved our Seasonal Tasting weekend in mid May. Although the weather remained dry, it was jolly chilly! Ice creams & chilled drinks took second place to, in favour of teas, coffees & a yummy, much appreciated Saddleback Hog Roast. Determined for a family summer weekend of fun, we shall be holding another Tasting weekend this month on 22nd & 23rd of June. The theme will be The British Picnic. Inviting you to attend, free of charge, to take our home produced produce, along with stalls from several of our local suppliers, show casting their produce.
Do come along.. and bring the sunshine with you!!!
