Life on the farm has been pretty hectic, organising our farm animals to feed on good pasture in one of the warmest and driest springs for a while. It’s important to keep our animals well hydrated in the heat and give them shade, most of our animals get their hydration from the moisture in the grass when grazing. Our Kunekune pigs have been happily bathing in mud, the mud puddles seem to work a treat at keeping them cool whilst they munch on leftover fresh fruit and vegetables from the farm shop. Our lovely donkey Jet has finally given birth to a girl, the first foal on the farm for us, whilst we wait for our donkey Anna to finally give birth as well, both mum and daughter are doing fine, although Pedro the mule is very protective.
Although other businesses finally start to open up later this month, our Farm Shop is open for order collection service and deliveries until July. We are using this time to remodel our farm shop with a few changes to make sure we are compliant before opening, so that our customers and staff feel safe. The same goes for our Farm Park and Glamping, once the government think it’s safe to reopen we will be up and running, but for us, behind closed doors our farming life still goes on.

Orders of fresh fruit/veg/salads are available every day, making our box scheme very popular. Strawberries, new potatoes, apricots, asparagus, radishes, spring onions, rocket and salad leaves are all in season, we sell as much British produce as we can and our very own grass fed lamb is also in season. Take advantage of our gluten-free range of flour, sweets, savoury biscuits and even gnocchi. Healthy drinks made by Rude Health and local producer Lucy Bee, these drinks are great when added to smoothies, porridge and cereals or are a delicious drink chilled on their own. Pizza/pasta flour is back in stock in our farm shop made by artisan producer ‘Wessex Mill’ together with ‘Flower White’ dried yeast from their #bakeOn range.

Our butchery has some lovely meals prepared and packed via our roast box collection (link), try our roast pork, fresh roast chicken, roast lamb or our home-grown grass fed beef, all come with a selection of vegetables and condiments to suit your dish. Date night means steak night, our steak night box comes with all the trimmings, or try gammon and chips as a complete box (link). Our celebration hampers are great for birthday gifts along with our Afternoon Tea selection for two or more people, it’s great for anniversaries and celebrations or just for treating yourself. Stock up your freezer with our meat pasta box, mince beef and chicken ready for that Spaghetti Bolognese or carbonara dish. If you’re not all barbecued out, we have special offers on diced beef, sausages and chicken fillets, great for making homemade burgers and kebabs or we have a fine selection of vegetarian burgers, beef and lamb together with chops, ribs and of course sumptuous steaks. Just tell our team your requirements and we will do the rest.
