The summer months are great for getting those outdoor jobs done, although work has to be managed all year round on our farm, it is just a little more rewarding this time of year and with the summer holidays we could not be busier.
The farm park is looking fantastic with new paddocks for the cows, our naughty goats have nestled into their new accommodation, our sheep have settled in by the lakes and our new ponies have finally arrived. With such good pasture this time of year after the June rain, it’s no wonder they are looking extremely happy.
Although the farm park is a work in progress we have added some new attractions for even greater fun. Some of the additions include sandpits to play in, farm character stocks to have fun with, a quiz for the children and soon a tractor tunnel.
With food so plentiful this time of year our farm kitchen has been cooking up some lovely home prepared dishes and it’s great to serve our own seasonal salad leaves from the kitchen garden, bringing them fresh to your plate. Our cold meat and cheese platters served in our tea room are very popular this time of year. Made with our own home reared meat and other produce available in our farm shop, it`s a great way of getting our lovely visitors to try before they buy.
British courgettes and beetroot are coming into season, juicy tomatoes are on their way along with strawberries, raspberries and gooseberries (although a little late) some have finally arrived from the growers. The colours on the plate are incredible this time of year so make the most of local British produce and let your taste buds enjoy mouth-watering dishes.
Our butchery counter in in full swing serving up fantastic cuts of meat ready for the BBQ although we are sadly losing (due to retirement) our long-term lovely butcher Mick. We are looking for a lovely butcher to replace him, if you are interested please do get in touch!
We are now taking bookings for our Little Foodie Farmer summer workshops. Sausage linking and meet the farmer are some of the attractions we have this summer. Call 01992 552900 to book or see our website for more details.
