The weather plays such an important part in our farming life and it’s been a disappointing start to this summer, with heavy downpours and not enough sunshine to germinate our crops, the lack of heat has put us at least six weeks behind which will lead to a later harvest. On the plus side our animals are loving all the lush green grass and weeds, which this mad weather has produced in abundance over the early summer, the pigs, goats, sheep and cows are certainly taking full advantage whilst foraging in the fields.
New to the Farm Park this summer we have some gorgeous baby rabbits all born here at the farm, our farm team certainly have their hands full with this bunch of bunnies, they are such social animals and love to see our visitors. Mary the farm pig has just given birth to beautiful piglets and doing well in her maternity ward, we also have a new born orphan calf who has just taken up residence in the stable while we care for him. The Indian runner ducks have made their home in our lakes, so you will see them running up and down the farm in their upright manner looking more like penguins than waddling ducks.
Our farm team are getting prepared for the school summer holidays, our farm park is open every day from the 29th of July until September from 10.00am to 3.00pm, you can either book online or just turn up. Farm Park ‘Summer Season’ tickets will be available to purchase from our farm shop or at the entrance kiosk, allowing you unlimited entry to the farm park (not on event days) throughout the summer.
