As the sun goes down after the Easter, we now look forward to working our magic here at Foxholes Farm ready for spring. Foxholes farm is buzzing with new life, with so many baby calves, new born lambs and poultry this certainly makes farming an exciting time of year.
We have spent the beginning of the year turning our barn into a small petting area where we can show off our new born and small animals, allowing children and parents to get up close and help feed the animals.
The animal barn is open from 11am to 3pm on weekends and every day throughout the school holidays https://www.foxholesfarm.com/animal-farm-barn/ Our most popular activity has been our baby orphan lamb feeding sessions. So many lambs are orphaned at this time of year, we work all hours feeding the lambs making sure they have the best possible start in life. We also have rabbits, guinea pigs, chicks, goats, sheep, lambs, calves also our 2 week old playful piglets are cute as ever which means our farm barn is looking very busy.
The food season starts to change and we have a huge selection of fruit and vegetables. New potatoes make an early appearance along with tender sprouting broccoli, new baby salad leaves start to gradually pop there tiny leaves into action with other favourites like spring greens, cauliflowers and rhubarb still in season, perfect for the plate https://www.foxholesfarm.com/farm-shop-near-hertford/local-fruit-vegatables/
Our butchery counter has a great selection of seasonal lamb, from rolled lamb breast, juicy lamb chops, leg joints to slow cook shoulder, our butchery team will prepare all your cuts especially for you. Check out our events page for details.
Watch this space for Great British Beef Week, 23rd April to 2nd May. We will be running our ‘Ladies in Beef’ campaign http://www.ladiesinbeef.org.uk/ within our farm shop helping to raise public awareness on how to purchase meat, recipes and advising consumers on how to get the best from British Beef!
And finally we have added more dates for our popular butchery classes. Our April evening classes have sold out but there are still a few places for April daytime ‘Whole Hog’ classes and evening classes for May and June.
