As we head into the festive season, it’s been by far one of the fastest and most challenging years for the farming industry! With the seasonal weather being a big focus this year, from a late spring full of below zero temperatures meaning the young where being born in the snow, to keeping all our stock hydrated throughout one of the warmest summers, reaching the hottest temperatures for over 40 years.

Here at Foxholes Farm we have Christmas all wrapped up, this month our butchers are franticly preparing all our Christmas meats with all the trimmings, making sure our customers all have their orders on time. So whilst our butchers add the finishing touches preparing the Christmas orders, our counters will still be full to the brim with delicious cuts of beef, pork, lamb, poultry and game. Although our turkey pre-orders are until 11th December, our butchery counter will always have something you’ll love and our butchers will always be pleased to give advice on how to cook the perfect festive feast!

The farm shop has everything you need for your festive lunch, Brussels, parsnips, red cabbage, carrots and potatoes are currently all in season, not forgetting the all important stuffing. We have gifts galore for the ultimate foodie, from fine British cheese from our deli counter, artisan gins and chocolates to craft brewed beers, or why not choose your own bespoke hamper. Choose a box, choose your gifts and simply wrap, or bring out the butcher in you and learn the tricks of the trade, book one of our 2019 butchery classes, or purchase as a gift, our classes will be running from January to March.

If all the shopping gets to you, simply wind down and enjoy a glass of bubbly or a cup of tea or coffee with our festive ‘High Tea’ (for two), served daily throughout December. Three tiers of dainty sandwiches, festive bites, cakes and bakes all to be devoured in the relaxing surroundings of the Farmer’s Table. If you’re a late starter at the weekend, come and enjoy an all day breakfast or Sunday Lunch served every Sunday until 3pm, the ‘Farmer’s Table” is open daily until 4pm, serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.

So after the last orders have been collected, the animals are all tucked away, we can finally relax (although us farmers never do) with a glass of bubbly and start to celebrate the festive season. My team and myself would like to thank our customers for their loyalty and custom throughout this year, wishing you a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
