As the year comes to an end, it would be wrong not to say it’s been a trying year for everyone! With Christmas nearly here it’s lovely to see some sparkle and joy as we get our farm shop organised for the festive season.

Our team have been working very hard with our new on-line shop so our lovely customers can pre-order with no fuss in time for Christmas. We aim to accommodate all our customers to make you feel comfortable and safe as we carry on with lockdown laws. We will be updating our online shop daily so look out not only for Christmas goodies but for our special ‘seasonal’ offers too.

This month is all about the festive season. Our butchers are always on hand to help you regarding ordering your Christmas feast, as the government rules have been changing so frequently our team will always adapt to offer help. Unfortunately we have to have a deadline, although our butchery counters are filled to the brim most days with produce you will need to order by the 14th December 2020 so we can full-fill your order in time for the big day. Fresh free-range turkeys, local game, gammon, pigs in blankets and of course our very own home reared beef, pork, lamb and chicken are all available. Cooked meats such as festive ham joints and sliced ham will be available to pre-order. Our new selection of fish, fresh salmon, mussels, tuna, haddock, scallops and more is now available together with fish platters (pre-order only) from our fish counter. Our team will always respond to any requests for advice so you can cook with ease this Christmas.

Our deli counter has some fantastic artisan cheeses, dairy farm cheese producers have had a very bad year so we’d love you to offer your support by purchasing their products, you won’t be disappointed. Our deli team can give advice on which is the best cheese for you or help you to choose for your festive cheese board. We offer soft cheeses, Cornish brie, Baron Bigod, or smoked cheese like Godminster smoked vintage, blue cheeses, Cropwell bishop, or a more creamy Oxford blue together with a selection of vintage cheddars. The perfect cheese board has to have a good chutney and we have a delicious range of chutney’s to offer, along with a wide selection of biscuits made for cheese. Our farm kitchen has the aroma of home cooked pies from locally sourced game or chicken & ham to traditional pork which are all great for family feasts.

The farm shop is full to the rafters with delightful gifts for the fine foodie along with artisan whisky, local gins, vodka, wine and beer. For the liqueur lover there are some gorgeous seasonal flavours available, plus we also have chocolates, mince pies and traditional Christmas cakes. If you’re after bespoke gifts our range of hampers are the perfect choice. Choose your basket, fill it with delightful goodies and we will wrap it for you, the perfect unique present for friends or family. Or why not order a takeaway ‘Festive’ high tea. Our festive high tea for two or four people is a selection of dainty sandwiches filled with festive fillings, pigs in blankets and sausage rolls served with a selection of festive cakes (pre-booking only). Or why not take advantage of our gift vouchers, available from our farm shop or to order on-line.

This month sees the infamous love hate relationship with the ‘Brussels Sprout’, although fried with our bacon they are delicious. Parsnips, cabbages, cauliflower, roasting potatoes, cranberries, pomegrantes, dates and walnuts, are all in stock together with celery, celeriac and carrots. Our vegetables are delivered fresh on a daily basis during December, or why not order one of our veg boxes. We have everything you need for a big breakfast, bacon, eggs, smoked salmon, avocados, ketchup, tomatoes and mushrooms for that yummy Christmas morning feast.

As another year closes we would like to thank all our customers for supporting us not only at this festive time of year, but throughout what has been a very difficult year for everyone. We feel our shop has been the heart of our community and its been a pleasure seeing your faces, keeping our team motivated and making us feel very privileged to have you as our farm shop customers. We’d also like to thank all the visitors to our farm park and it’s been a joy meeting new campers who stayed in the new safari lodge adventure.

Have a very merry Christmas and a prosperous 2021 from Catherine and the team here at Foxholes Farm!
