  • As we bounce into Summer.. – August Blog 2017

As we bounce into summer we still have a bumper harvest ahead, although most of our arable crops have already been harvested for winter silage our combines are still busy harvesting day and night, it’s important as farmers we harvest now to help cut costs for our winter feed.

Our Farm Park has been exceptionally busy with the school holidays, it`s a great way to just come and relax and breath in the Hertfordshire Countryside. We love opening our farm up to our visitors, it`s so lovely to see our visitors learning new things about the farm and of course even better to take part and share a piece of our farm life. Over the years we wanted to create a haven for our visitors and their families to learn about good food and how our farm has grown so don’t forget to purchase your Farm Park entry passes, which means for a small charge you can visit whenever our Farm Park is open.

August brings us so many seasonal fruits and vegetables right now, aubergines, tomatoes, courgettes, beetroot, radishes and raspberries and also peaches and apricots make an appearance this month. What’s not to like. This time of year it’s lovely to preserve your supply of plentiful produce, our farm shop has a wide range products ready for the jam making season and don`t forget the all important pickling.

New products in this month are Blacks selection of cheeses, delicious creamy cheese with added flavour, our cheese of the month is Blacks ploughman’s , served with pickles, crusty bread and some Foxholes Farm chutney, a plate of joy. Our Foxholes Farm trailer is always stocked with delicious cold snacks and drinks great for all the family if you need a nibble whilst exploring the farm.

Our butchery classes are back! By popular demand we have selected three dates of wonderful hands on back to basic classes. Classes start at £90.00 per person for an evening, learning the tricks of the trade on how to work from nose to tail with pork. Our first class is 21st September (see our website) or call 01992 552900 to book!

As we slowly approach into late summer, a date not to be missed is Sunday 17th September we are holding our first Wedding Open Day here at Foxholes Farm. If you have ever thought of a rustic wedding our wedding co-ordinator will create the perfect wedding Just for you.
