We are a small family run farm, based in Hertfordshire since 1920’s, when we had pigs, chickens , dairy cattle and sheep.  Since the mid 1990’s we have specialised in producing high quality beef to the public.

Foxholes Farm is part of a mixed farming system growing grass and forage maize for the cattle along with cereal crops, field beans and oilseed rape. From the cereal crops we get our corn to roll for feeding the cattle and the straw is baled up for winter bedding for the cattle.  We farm in a traditional method, where by the cattle graze for as long a period as possible to give you that tender, melt in the mouth taste.  No GM foods are bought in, and we do not administer routine antibiotics or growth promoters to our cattle.  We compost and spread the animals manure back onto the pastures.

In 1999 it was decided to try and sell our own produce, through Farmers Markets which had just got started in Hertfordshire and from the farm two days a week.  This was a very hard and daunting time, but has over the past eight years  built up into a new enterprise.  It has been rewarding  dealing with the customers as the end users, trying to produce what they wanted from the product.

In 2006 we were given permission to build a butchery and farm shop on the farm, so as we could take things another step towards achieving what the customer wanted, a butcher on site to cut fresh and to each specification, with attention to service and quality.
